In July, the Harvard Vanguard Chelmsford practice celebrated its 25th anniversary in the community. The Chelmsford practice was originally founded in 1948 and was known as Chelmsford Medical Associates.  In 1989, shortly after becoming a part of Harvard Vanguard, nine additional physicians were hired and renovations began at 228 Billerica Road.  Soon, the 72,000 square-foot facility opened with 34 physicians and many new specialties and services all under one roof.

Today, Chelmsford has over 150 doctors, nurses, physician assistants and other medical professionals serving more than 26,000 patients and has continued to add new specialties and services. The site has received numerous awards from the Massachusetts Health Quality Partners (MHQP), the Harvard Pilgrim Healthcare Honor Roll for excellence in adult and pediatric care, and the highest possible national accreditation as a Level 3 Patient-Centered Medical Home from The National Committee for Quality Assurance.

On July 9th, the Chelmsford practice celebrated the anniversary by holding an event for staff and patients, including a special recognition for those staff that have been with the practice for 25 years or more.
